Final Exam - Page 2

Using the Invert Method
Shark - Original Shark - Toward the Light
Steps Used: (1) Created a new adjustment layer (invert) above the background layer with a blend mode of Dodge & opacity of 30 (2) Duplicated the background layer and moved this layer to the top of the layer pallette (3) Above this layer created a new layer and flood filled with a linear gradient & then used the Illumination-Lights effect & changed the blend mode to Hard Light with an opacity of 60 (4) On the copy of the background layer I chose Multiply as the blend mode with the opacity setting of 60

Coloring from a black and white image
Leaves - Original Leaves - Blank & White
Leaves - Enhanced
Steps Used: (1) Colors, Grey Scale - Colors, Increase Color Depth to 24 bit (2) Colors, Split Channel to CMYK (3) On black image (after splitting) used the selection tool with tolerance set to 18 selected the leaves I wanted to color - this took quite a bit of time I must admit as the blacks were so close in color after splitting (4) After selecting, saved to Alpha Channel (5) On background layer of original image, selected load from alpha channel & promoted to layer. (6) Using the retouch tool, with all settings set to 100 (except size) and the color to target option, used several gradients that I created for just for this image (7) Loaded the alpha selection again and applied a drop shadow to the new layer (8) back to background layer colored with another gradient

Leaves - Painted
And here we have my final image - which is the same as above except prior to merging layers, I used the brush strokes tool (I hope it's ok that I did a custom brush stroke) and then merged layers and then added a frame (one that came with PSP7) and colorized
